Its important not to mix up Norinco and M1 Garand rear sight parts because they are not compatible.

I was building another Garand today and had selected and intalled a tight rear sight base, aperture and aperture combination. The elevation pinion went in OK, but as soon as I tried the windage knob it became evident that I was working with a Norinco rear sight base. The threads are different and if you try to force it you will booger the windage knob.

The Norinco parts look the same as Garand parts, but are dimensionally different and should be kept separately. If folks want to sell their Norinco parts please make sure you don't list them as Garand parts.

Rats, I was assembling another Garand today and turned up a no-go rear sight aperture which looks new. It seems I'm stuck with another Norinco part.
