Taking into account reliability, safety and price, which would you shoot given the choice?

It all depends on your disposition? It doesn't save much less to reload the larger full size calibers than it does to buy ready to fire MFS loads. If you're match shooting you will want to load your own, but if you just plink away and they work fine for hunting, then why bother? the difference between the two is the cost of brass.


For 5.56 and other small rounds, I just buy bulk. I can't be bothered to reload for small cases and I don't have the time of day to do it.

If you go with the Norc, you could always pick up your brass for later use. You may not reload now but who knows what the situation could be like in a few years.
 
Never shot MFS but the Norc ammo I've been shooting has been garbage it's seem dirtier burning smells like chow mien which is a plus but have had a lot of bad primers and had a case split not a big fan I like the AE AR Ammo IMHO
 
I reload so norc brass all day. Little dirtier but if you soak your gun overnight in clp comes off no problem.
 
So far I'm gathering that people value the brass over the steel despite the problems some people are having with some Norinco cases being faulty or even damaged on discharge? I'm still waiting on delivery of my first gun and I'm battling with whether I should roll the dice with Norinco brass or go with MFS knowing the problems associated with steel cases and reliability. P.S. I have some higher quality ammo (PMC Bronze) for break in.
 
last time I purchased, the Norc was cheaper than MFS - So it was a no brainer for me.. now that we won't be seeing norc .223 i can see this being a different story.

I prefer AE AR.223 but its too expensive to justify- I run yellow and white box Norc 90% of the time - For punching paper, I just don't see the need.

Some argue its harder on your gun, ok so Im going to pay 1/2 to 2/3 the price of your rounds so that will justify me purchasing a new firearm twice as often as you…. Its all relative.
 
I shoot MFS in 55 HP and 62 SP because it's cheap enough for plinking and good enough for hunting as well. Norc being FMJ is for paper punching only and I find the MFS 62gr soft point ammo to be very accurate in my Savage.
