Norinco Commander Replacement Front Sight

I need a front sight for my Norc Commander and I'm aware that they are not a standard size dovetail. I'd like to put on a fiber optic sight if possible. Have any of you guys or girls found something that fits without having a gunsmith cut a new dovetail? Please let me know what you've done and where you got it.

I have done it many times.

Just about any front sight will require a wider dovetail. The good news is that your gunsmith will have the carbide cutter for a standard size dovetail. he needs carbide because the Norinco steel is very hard.

I suggest you speak to him first, and find what size cutter(s) he has, and then get the correct sight.

You also want to measure the height of the sight that came off, so you can order the correct size front sight. (same, taller or shorter)

Thank you Ganderite. I was hoping to find a front sight that would work without involving a gunsmith. Don't really want to spend allot on the Norinco, but I might have to suck it up and spend the money.
