Norinco CQ/M311-1

Thank you & Thank you again! I finally got this thing 99% done. Added a few more US parts that Norinco cloned and put in the later CQ and CQ-A. Need to stamp the last 4 of the SN unto the upper and have it all reanodized or enameled and this 1st clone will be done.
What markings are you looking to reproduce? On my example there is a 6 digit number stamped on the bottom of the forward assist that is not the same as the serial number of the lower, the last 4 digits of the lower serial number are stamped on the bottom of the bayonet lug though.

Most of the recent photos that I have found show 311 varients in Africa (Which I suspect as being Sudanese Terab rifles, which also retairn the CQ marking interestingly) show the last four of the SN stamped into the upper reciever akin to other ComBloc weaponry. This specific model of CQ clone that I have done is an amalgamtion of the Terab and other later style 311s. A2 lower, CMMG Ambi parts etc. I also plan on stamping other parts as well just for details. I have an early M311 clone and a CQ-A clone in the works as well. Hoping the company I got my lowers from will add the "Minden" marking that the early Canadian 311s had. Speaking of which, did any ever figure out what "Minden" was even supposed to be? I think they were also on the 500ish guns brought to the US before the 89 ban as well

Mine is one of the "Minden" marked guns, I'm not aware of any conclusive explanation.
I will say that these early imports were very crudely finished, over the years much of the paint has come off of mine, the metal finish does not look to have been bead blasted prior to anodizing with several polished & machined surfaces left as is, Also the anodizing between the upper & lower are a noticeably different colour. I wouldn't be surprised if the SA lowers were made later on & norinco took left over uppers off of FA guns to put them together. I suspect that's why my upper has a different serial number on the upper but matching number stamped on the bayo lug.

I can see that 100% being the case, Them slapping mix master parts I mean. I would LOVE to find out what the Minden was supposed to mean. I wonder if thats the name Norinco gave the English Market commercial guns?

I think that might be the Pearl River Type CS/OS 4 day sight.

Summary

Type CS/OS4 Day Sight is equipped with CQ-A5.56mm automatic rifle for aiming shooting and battlefield observation of targets within 400 meters. When the target width is 0.5 meters, the target distance can be roughly determined. With reticle function.

Main specificationsk

Magnification
3.5×
Field of view

Exit pupil diameter
5.4mm
Exit pupil distance
52mm
Diopter
-0.5~ -1
Distance delimitation setting range
400 m (internal setting)
Zero position motion (including repeat setting error)
≤0.7mil

≤0.38K

I don’t know if these were imported into Canada.

Wow, that was quick! Thank you! I figured it was a long shot they made it into Canada but was worth asking me thinks

If you find a place in Canada that has more than one of the Pearl River’s let me know as I wouldn’t mind having one on my 14.5 CQ-A.

I was just looking online and I found a reddit thread of someone on Poland who found an 18.5” CQA in a gun range. I wonder if that came from the factory that way or if it was rebarrelled. I think here we only saw from the factory 10.5, 14.5 and the 20’s

Here’s the thread if anyone is interested

I always wanted the 20' Norc, when A1(I think?) hardware was available and they were relatively cheap. Even if the gun laws are reversed, I don't think you'll see the Chinese clamoring to produce more for our climate. Would be nice, but think of what we may see insteadIMG_20220902_105705317.jpg
