Norinco CQ Short Stroking

I recently picked up a 10.5" Norinco CQ-A and had some issues with it. When I received it I gave it a strip, clean and lube. Last time at the range it was failing to feed and today at the range it was short stroking. Has anyone else had these issues? As a AR noob does anyone know the reasoning behind it? I read it could be the buffer tube but it's still stock. I also read it could be the gas system.

Any help would be awesome.

Is your gas key loose? Take your bolt carrier out and check to make sure that the key is tight and staked.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out.

Also check the buffer and the buffer spring. I had the same issue, changed it with a H2 buffer and buffer spring the issue stopped.

What mags and ammo are you running in it?

What mags and ammo are you running in it?

I was using 3 different mags and it didn't seem to matter (Pmag, metal mag, Fab Defense mag). I'm using Norinco .223 ammo with it.
