norinco cq311 finish

i'm not sure if i read it here.
did some one strip the spray paint type finnish off there cq311 and under neath was the correct grayish finish of a true m16a1?
urban myth or fact?

Hummm... Did no try that one... You should grab a gallon of paint stripper and give it a go!

you do it first, let me no how you make out. looking in the mag well that isn't covered, it looks close to the a1 finish. btw do you own a cq311.

They wouldn't waste money doing that, coating it twice. They can't be bothered to do smooth millwork, so I wouldn't count on it.

I own a CQ and the only paint I removed was on the buttstock. It was a nice black under the nasty grey and looked good with the A2 grip and handguard! That was before I replaced the stock by a telescoping one to go with my short upper and my other upper in 9mm... If I did care more about looks, I would strip the paint and recoat it with another finish if the Norc finish wasn't good under the paint...

The first production runs were anodized and teflon coated.
I am not sure how the other batches were coated after that.
