Hello everyone. I just came into possession of a Norinco CQ311. It has had its original forend replaced by a AR15A2 type. My problem is that it will fire the first round, eject it but will stovepipe the second. I have tried several different mags but it does it with all of them. Anyone have this problem? Know any rememdies? Any help would be appreciated.

All the best,
Allan

kinda sounds like a gas problem... im no tech though! im sure some one will be able to help u out.

good luck

1. Make sure the gas rings are aligned properly on the bolt.
2. You may have feed ramp issues; i.e. the lower half being of a different make/type than the upper. I'm not sure on this but I remember reading somewhere that the Norinco CQ311 was/is metric, where most Ar's are in inches.

I'm no expert either, I'd suggest taking it to a certified gun smith.

If it is stove piping it's not ejecting the first round. It's cycling the action but because the round isn't removed which causing a jam (from what I gather from your description).

Check your extractor, you can disassemble it easy by removing the holding pin and taking it off, check that the carbon isn't built up on the lip and the spring is in good working order.

If it's warn down replace it, you can get the part from a number of vendors.

I have a CQ311 as well; and I have had no issues with mine at all, I can obtain 1.25" groups at 100 m consistently with 55grain factory ammo.

I switched my pistol grip with one from questar, though I didn't find anything wrong with the feel of the factory one. Just that I thought it was damn ugly.

Good luck!

Jake

I have had a similar thing happen with my colt when i put and dpms upper on it. Turned out the pin where the rifle pivots needed to have slight offset due to th upper being milspec and the lower wasnt.

maybe try cleaning the hole in the barrel where the gas exits, or replacing the gas tube. if it cant be diagnosed, start with cheap fixes.

too bad man, i have one of the old cq311's too, and its never had any issues.

edit, maybe another extractor and spring? its funny it will eject the first round, but not the second. if it was gas, it shouldnt be pushing the bolt back enough to fully eject the first round either. have you tried a few brands of ammo?
