Norinco CQ5.56/M4 dents my brass

I've put about 100 or so rounds through it, and it consistently puts a small dent in every case. I looked in the chamber, and there doesn't appear to be anything stuck on the side of it that would cause this (but it was kinda hard to see clearly). I did scrub it out with a little plastic brush.

Also, I've chambered and ejected a round without firing it, and it came out dent free.

Is the empty brass hitting something on the way out maybe?

I want to reload, but I'm not thrilled about the dents. My father (who used to reload a lot, many years ago) thought it wasn't anything to be concerned about and the dents would fire form out.

Any ideas, suggestions?

I'm at work, but will post some pictures later tonight from home.

Edit: Here's the pic:

Where is the dent?

My bolt leaves a dent on the mouth itself from the spent casing hitting the side of the action as it is being ejected. I put pressure on the case as I extract it to prevent the contact. Obviously with a semi that wont work

Probly the deflector IMHO.

Is your rifle one of the latest Norinco M4's ?

Would you mind posting a picture of your rifle in good lighting so we can all get a peek at this baby ? Alot of people are curious to see the new finnish.

Ah, unfortunately, no, it's not one of the new ones (they're the CQ-a?). I bought mine last Oct./Nov. Just haven't been out to the range with it much with it - thus the only 100 rounds through it.

Finish seemed not bad, nowhere near as bad as I was expecting after seeing the pics that Lever Arms had posted on their site.

I can post a pic., but it wouldn't help you with your question about the new finish. I see there's another thread about this, so hopefully Badger Arms can post a pic., or someone who's bought one from them can.

I notice the same thing with mine also the brass ejects forward at about the 2 oclock postion.

Mine ejects the same way - forward of the firing line, about 2 o'clock.

Thanks to all the replies. Was at the range last night, and it was indeed the deflector.
