I put one points on and never looked back.
Single point slings aren't bad for thing like 3 gun or service rifle if you have a short barrel rifle (SBR in the US).
The problem comes into play when you transition to pistol or have your rifle on you for long periods of time.
For transitions, or movement, a rifle on a single point sling will move around quite a bit, and will also play havoc with you knees and balls, unless you have a good sized chest rig to keep the rifle out away from you.
Also when taking a knee, a single point sling will make sure that your muzzle heads straight for the dirt, unless you are directing it with your hands.
Single point slings have their place, when used with weapons catches, and when you are
always holding onto your rifle.
Single point slings are also a pain in the a$$ when you are trying to search through your backpack, load mags or anything else requiring two hands. The rifle really likes to move around and get in the way.
Anyway, on to the Norc or any other 3 point sling, obsolete. Period.
Two point adjustable slings like the Blue Force Gear Vickers slings are the only way to go.
3 Point slings get hung up on your webbing/chest rig/LBV etc. and they also get in the way when you have to do immediate actions (cleaning malfunctions).
The extra strap running along side the rifle has no use what-so-ever.
So in conclusion, toss your Norc sling, and get yourself a BFG Vickers or Victory sling.
We sell it on contract to the RCMP, multiple CF units, and the Dutch for their weapons upgrade program.
It is in use in the US by almost every Tier 1 unit.
