Are these the same rifles. "http s://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=75213"]htt ps://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=75213 designated cqa versus "http://ww w.leverarms.com/products/chinese-cq-a1?variant=11850629569"]http://www.lev erarms.com/products/chinese-cq-a1?variant=11850629569 designated cqa1. I just noticed there is no 556 listing on the leverarms page. Definitely novice here but from what I'm reading you can shoot 223 thru a 556 chambered gun but shooting 556 thru a 223 chambered gun is a bad idea.

Thanks for your patience

Nice hotlink! I have 2 of the Marstar ones and I am still alive, however. The Marstar HK sling and cleaning stuff look the same as the Lever items.
Edit: I have bought guns from Lever without any problems.

I will not be laughing my a__ off if the Lever arms sells out and I dont get one lol. Guess I could wait and see if Marstar comes down in price again

They're both functionally the same. There are lots of dealers doing their own variations on the CQA. Some were coming with a quad rail already fitted. Some (IIRC) had 4 position stocks. And I've not ever seen a 20" rifle like the one lever arms has (flat top, with carry handle, collapsible stock, modern looking handguards).

Lever arms doesn't have a great rep,but then again marstar just got booted from the forum for underhand tactics. I've just ordered a rifle from Lever and they've been pretty on the ball up until this point. They did say that they test fire every rifle, which IMO is a good thing, given that it's Norinco we're talking about. Even the rifle in the display case was obviously fired (missing some paint - ugh, paint) from the brass deflector.

YMMV.

I can't speak for Marstar, but I have had dealings with Lever in person. The guys that work there can be a little rough around the edges, but at the end of the day, I get what I want.

I have the CQ-A, did not get it from mastar, it looks the same as the Lever 14.5" model, same identical accessories and only difference is the lettering on the magwell.
Get the one at Lever, 100$ cheaper. You can shoot .223 in either one.

Hey guys thanks for the input. First rifle purchase. Ya was most concerned about how the rifle was chambered(5.56).I will try and call today but hard to do from work. Ya looks like Marstar put there price back up. Dominion arms has there own entry level rifle (DA 556) but seems there are some differences with CQA and I like the cqa better. There is the deal from Canada ammo for the DA 556 and a chunk of ammo tho for any one reading. Thought about building myself with the deals at Saskatchewan gun works but with tools still fairly expensive unless u are patient and pick up things here and there and this is my first rifle. I want to shoot hehe. Anyways thanks for the warm welcome here. I think this forum is really important with the general attitude towards guns in Canada and sort of the vacuum of knowledge it creates

Great entry level AR, you can beat on it and not worry too much, shoot a #### load of cheap ammo and enjoy. If at some point you want to upgrade you'll be able to sell it for a decent price and get something else. Perfect to learn on, as I am doing.

Ya just thought I would drop back in here and say that they dropped the price down to 699 at Marstar but I suppose if u wanted a 10 inch barrel or the longer barrel then leverarms is the good price. I ordered on the phone the guy was really good explained how everything would go down it being my first purchased firearm. Sucks about the gun club thing in my province tho. I'm waiting for my gun range application to go thru still and then apparently another 3 wks for the CFO to approve the transfer since its my first restricted.

All Chinese AR's have 556 chambers, use what ever fits. The Norc AR's get a lot of sh*t thrown at them, due to the finish (?) but they run and run and run. You'll get an easy 10K rounds out of a Chinese AR and it won't puke on you.
