Hello,

Does anyone know if one of the Norinco clones of a CZ 452 (or clone of a BRNO) would fit in an actual CZ stock?

I have access to the Norinco, and was thinking of putting a Scout stock on it to teach the kids.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I haven't found a replacement stock but If you have the wood stocked JW 15 (BRNO) knockoff, which is made with softwood and very clunky, you might just go at with file and rasp ,reshape it and refinish it with a good sealer to harden it up and use an expoxy type spray paint .Doesn't cost much and makes a huge diference, and if it gets dinged,it's easly repaired. My JW 15's are just as accurate as my BRNO and the 'shorty' is ideal for carrying on the quad

I have an older JW model in 22magnum with a wood stock that resembles a 2x4....they can certainly shoot but they aren't collectors. My other models have synthetic stocks, not great but better than the wood stocks.I did fill the hollow stocks with non expanding foam,it takes away that 'hollow' sound and stiffens them up

I guess another option is to buy a used JW15 wood stock and cut it to length. The rifle is my father's; he wants the girls to use it, but it would be nice if he can put it back to the way it was for him to use also. His other idea was to buy a CZ Scout, but he has a roof to put on the house, and I just bought the girls a Ruger SP101 22LR, so the cheaper the better.

Way more money than I want to fork out for a stock to cut down. At least if I found a used Scout stock, if it fit, I could probably sell it later and get most of my money back.

Yeah, that is way more than I want to spend for a stock I am going to cut down, or even put on a rifle of this quality. I managed to find a scout stock in the equipment exchange that may work, but I am still not sure if it will fit or not. Can anyone help with that part?

One option might be to cut the stock down to reduce the length of pull, but make spacers ( like the youth shotgun stocks) to restore the length to adult size.Just depends on what you want to do and how much money you want to spend

Thank you for that answer, even if it is not what I wanted to hear.

Let's try another option. Does anyone know what is in the base of the Norinco synthetic stocks? If I were to cut one back 4", would there still be anything to anchor a butt pad (homemade) to?

I can tell you this much, the stock of the synthetic is hollow so there's really not much to anchor a new butt pad into. I guess you could always get creative and make a wood insert and screw it in from the sides and then attach the butt pad to it. I'll see if i can post a picture later of my stock without the butt pad installed so you have an idea.

Here's the inside of the stock with the butt pad removed

It's about 8.25" deep. Hope this helps.

From what I can see in the photo, it looks like the buttpad attachment points only go a short way in. I had hoped they went further and you could attach something there.

Oh well, this idea is turning up as a bust.

1-Cut back the stock
2- make a butt plate from soft pine ( 2 X4 ) , cut and shaped .
3- make the butt plate 2 -3 inches thick
4- trim / sand 7/8 of the wood butt pad so it fits inside the hollow plastic stock , make it a tight / pressure fit . will take some trial an error to get it snug , the 22 LR recoil will not shake it lose .
5- you could dill through the bottom of the plastict stock with a vey small drill bit 1/8 and counter sink a short thin screw just to secure the wood insert section in place .
or
no screw ... you can always pull it off / out later .

Just a thought ..........
