Hi guys!

As title say, I'm new to the M305 and have questions for you. Let's say I'm not happy with the flash hider, the front sight and the rear sight. Can I replace some part or the total of them with National Match one found on Brownels? If I did not go for the NM, can I just bought the std one and fit it with the Norinco one?

The rear sight can be replaced with a M1 Garand rear sight, that is similar, but better quality for adjustments. I bought mine on ebay from a guy in Italy for around $50.00

The front flash suppressor can be replaced with a GI M14 suppressor. Look at Smith Enterprises for some fine designs and even a USCG muzzle brake.

The National match stuff should work if you replace the entire rear sight. I believe the NM has both a smaller aperture and a finer moa adjustment. But from my shopping, and entire rear NM sight is a lot of $$$$.

Tx guys!

If I change my mind with the NM rear sight because of the $$$, can I put the std Springfield aperture rear sight (part #64 on Brownels schematic) and keep all the rest Norinco?

A USGI NM rear sight assembly(set) would be very high dollar. A USGI M14 sight would also be expensive. USGI Garand sights are good value though.

The apertures for Norc, M1A, M14 and Garand are swappable.

You can, assuming your Norinco windage and elevation pinions (part 68 and 70) are decent. The pinions are the weak link in the rear sight. If you pull your sight apart and the pinions are screwed, you could be without a rear sight. I've replaced all three parts listed with the appropriate SA parts on my rifles. Some here have had problems fitting the SA pinions in the Norinco base, but it worked fine for me. Your mileage may vary.

If I was doing it again I'd just find a complete rear sight and replace the whole thing. It'll likely be cheaper.

I have a question about the NM sights as listed at various places in the US. When they say "NM sights" for approx $80 - just what do they mean? Does it include the base, cover, pinions and aperture? or only parts thereof ?

Anyone with any experience with ordering these? either M-1 or M14??

I have disassembled those parts when cleaning the rifle and they were ok. Function of my rear sight is ok, the problem is the hole in the rear aperture is very low and to the left. I was about to change only this part when I saw the NM one on Brownels. At first I said to myself why not change the whole thing since I've read in other thread that the rear sight assembly is weak. I know I won't get top accuracy from this rifle even if I put some NM parts but I'm not planing to use it with a scope so... I'm in decision if I go with the NM kit or just buy the std aperture???

Anyway, many thanks for the info guys!
