We've made a decision here at ARMCO that has been influenced partly by the spotty import record of Norinco 1911's, and also the very low profit in selling. We will no longer sell them, but instead offer the following:
Armco Norinco tuning - $100 on your gun including return shipping
You buy your gun from Lever or Marstar, ship it to us and we do the following:
Lap frame to slide, smooth up breech face and underside of slide, prep and tune extractor, polish inside of slide where top of barrel rubs, add a polymer shock buffer, check and adjust thumb and grip safeties as needed, rework hammer, sear and disconnector surfaces and set trigger pull to 3.5 to 4.5 lbs (crisp). We function test with factory 230 grain ammo as well as 200 grain lead semiwadcutter reloads, test fire with both types of ammo as well. Lately we have not had to polish and throat the frame and barrel for feeding as they come in pretty good shape that way, but we always check, and improve feeding if needed. We check little stuff like making sure the grips fit snugly, and that plunger housings are staked correctly.
The gun you get back is worlds smoother, easier to shoot, and more dependable than an out of the box Norinco. We have an option for an extra $30 of switching to Pachmayr grips, or mahogany diamond checkered grips (very pretty). We can fit a match alloy trigger for an extra $30 as well, and mag wells, different safeties, full length guide rods, even a "Bear Load" package consisting of extra heavy recoil spring and barrel adjusted for maximum lock-up. $125 extra gets a nice set of Novak sights…
We are busy, but so far keeping up with demand, and it's usually about two weeks from when we get it until receipt of your tuned Norinco
