just curious whether anyone knows if norinco is planning on doing a proper hi power clone? i'd buy one in a heartbeat!

They are selling nice Indian Inglis Hi-power clones in the US... would be really nice if someone here would bring them in. The best deal that we can get is the FEG clone that TSE is selling for about $495 or something close to that.

Since I already have this image put together for something else (responding on a militaria forum about the Indian-made 9mm being a dead-ringer for the Inglis, to a fellow who was enquiring about getting a deactivated Inglis or, worse yet, deactivating one, for WWII re-enacting purposes) I might as well post it here ...

What you see is my original Inglis No. 2 pistol (on top) with the Norinco "High Power" (NOT!) on the left, and an image of the "Pistol Auto 9mm 1A*" manufactured in India (this image is from the Ordnance Factory Board of India website - here's a link to the "Small Arms" page:

The Indian pistol appears to be a clone of the Inglis (a few of which ended up in Indian service) right down to the distinctive fixed rear sight "hump" - which was strictly an Inglis feature, as I understand it. Matter of fact, I know of at least one fellow in the US who bought one of the Indian pistols and used the barrel and all of the other internal parts from it to build a fully functional pistol using one of the stripped Inglis sets (frame and slide only) available for about $90 by SARCO in the States - everything fit quite nicely, apparently.

Several months ago I sent an e-mail to Marstar about the Indian pistols, since it seemed to me they would be a great addition to their product line, and they responded that they were aware of them and were looking into the possibility of bringing them in. (HINT: if lots more people enquired about the Indian pistol, and indicated that they would love to buy one, Marstar might just get a lot more serious about following up on this!)
