I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences good or bad with the Norinco JW-103 in 7.62x39?
Its listed at Marstar as the "Bush Ranger".
Does anyone own one ? How accurate is it and most importantly how much does it weigh?
I'm interested in it as a knock around rifle to take punching for whitetail deer, for times I don't want to drag my more expensive rifles thru the thick brush.
All opinions welcomed and appreciated.

Took mine out of grease two days ago. Looks promising. The nice thing about a bolt 7.62X39 is you can handload for it to the desired weight and power to suit the rifle.

This rifle is basically a Cooey design brought up to the caliber it is shooting. For the money, unless you want to spend 2X more on a CZ model, this is a good place to start.

IMHO if you are going to use a 7.62x39 for whitetail (within 100 to 200 yards) and want reliability at a low price then go for a SKS.

+1 on the SKS for an econo rifle in 7.62x39.

Since the Russian surplus ones are going for around $250'ish you really can't go wrong.
