Working...
Well, the carbine showed up today. Wiped the cosmoline of, the safety and trigger were totally gummed up, but repeated application of WD40 eventually got them working fine. Problem is, the action is completely frozen! The bolt will not move at all. The bolt handle will move in and out about 1/16 of an inch, and rotate 1/4 turn. But the bolt itself will not move at all. I don't want to start beating the thing with a hammer, but brake cleaner and WD40 soaking will not free it up. I thought it should at least move in a slow gummy way, something I could work with at least. But its totally frozen forward.

Anybody got any ideas, or should I just call Marstar tomorrow and see about getting a replacement? I most likely have to leave town for work tomorrow, pretty bummed about not getting to try the little plinker out.

I'm thinking I'll ask for a replacement, but that they check it to make sure it works (t least that the parts will move) before it gets shipped.

Try a little heat from a hair dryer make sure nothing flamable soaking on it etc.

Heat got it! Not hair dryer heat, but a heat gun set to low until I could hardly touch the gun. Bolt finally crept to half open, then a half can of WD40 got it to where it will slide back and forth well enough to tear down tomorrow. Thanks. Its built to resemble an M1 carbine, but I think it was built at the same time they were, judging by the black cruddy cosmo inside.

Anybody torn one of these down before? I'm wondering if there are any psecial surprises in store for me.

Well let me know how it works I have been thinking about picking up one myself . there was one at the Lethbridge gun show on the weekend that had been cleaned up 4-sale and seemed likea neet little plinker.

I'll have to pick up cheapo Canadian Tire scope for it. If the front sight was any further to the left, it would be a homeboy sight. Which is too bad, because the rear sight is good, and its the one most seem to complain about.

Took it with me to the field, and put 10 rounds through it. Trigger is a little sticky, but the gun fed and extracted beautifully. When I get time I'm going to strip it again and soak the parts in solvent (I barely had time to free the bolt and do a basic clean before leaving home), and do a little filing and polishing on the bolt and firing pin. The gun definitely needs a little TLC as it comes out of the crate, but I think its going to be a fun little plinker.

Okay, so with further experience with the rifle, here are my thoughts:

- Fairly easy to break down and clean.
- After cleaning it up, the trigger is really nice.
- Reasonably accurate.
- Feels solid in hand.
- The magazines are junk. Even after taking them apart and thoroughly cleaning, they do not feed well or consistently. Easily the weakest link. Anybody know FOR SURE which other magazines will fit? I've heard a few different things, but would really like some better mags so I can enjoy my truck plinker at its best...
