Norinco JW-14 Performance

Got mine 2 weeks ago. Cleaned the cosmoline out and took it to the range only to discover I must have re assembled the bolt wrong. It fired once and hen jammed. Cleared the jam and I slam fired when I re inserted the mag and charged the handle and jammed again. I cleared the jam one more time took a shot and it jammed again. Reassembly and the disconnecter is apparently kinda tricky and it's tough finding a utube video on it! I hope I get er going cause it's a pretty neat little rifle.

I founds lots of info about problems taking it apart and putting it back together.

I will attach one of the written reports.

Still would like to hear about accuracy and reliability.

Take apart is quite easy. I'll explain it to you as I'm one of the few that has completely taken this beast apart.

-Separate the metal from the stock with the single takedown screw.
-remove the tiny set screw on the bottom at the back of the receiver.
- twist the end cap off of the receiver (it is quite long and take numerous turns) It is under spring pressure so be careful.
- pull out all of the springs and internal shafts (diagrams will show this)
- the bolt should move freely now
- turn the cocking handle around (about 90 degrees) until the flat part is aligned (you won't be able to see this) and pull it out to the side to get it out
- pull the trigger and the bolt should slide out.
- you can further take the bolt down as per the diagrams

That’s it for take down.

Putting it back together is harder.
- put the bolt back together and put it back in the receiver
- put the cocking handle back in by reversing the above directions
- you will notice that the bolt will not go all the way forward - this is the tricky part
- look at the trigger mechanism from the side, you will see a small hole on the sear, while pushing the bolt forward gently - with a small pin inserted into this hole in the sear pull upwards and rearwards to reset the sear and allow the bolt to go all the way forward. (I spend two days trying to figure this out!!!)
- reassemble the reverse of the above.

I havnt shot mine yet, but I just made a video on disassembly if your interested. Check my threads. Ive heard good things about this guns accuracy. Hope to test it soon with my 3-9 mounted on it.

Mine is very accurate and reliable (if I keep it cleaned). I have a cheap scope on it, and I can put 10 shots in a 2" circle at 50 yards as fast as I can pull the trigger. Maybe mine was built on a Wednesday !

norinco jw-14, MY BAD, i started a new post didnt see this one, this was my experience with the one i got
got my new norinco jw-14 the other day, its a .22 semi auto and comes with a 10 shot mag , had a chance today to run a few rounds through it, worked flawlessly, cycled well, good feel, used cheapy 555 bulk 22 winchester ammo, {as i always try first, as its only 22 bucks for 555 rds} it was quite accurate and i am sure will be much better when its not so uncomfortable outside, rainy cold here, anyway except for the 3hrs it took me to disassemble and clean it due to it being COVERED in oil, including the mag, {but thats ok, all part of the brand new experience i guess} it seems to be a great shooter, i will enjoy this rifle, best part is, it was on sale for 125 bucks!!! as far as i am concerned.......great deal, if anyone is thinking of getting one, i can give it the thumbs up....oh, also i started to put a scope on it but found the rings i had were too short and i could not get above the rear irons, so i was just using the irons and probably will leave it so, not a shot out of 20 off the paper and grouped pretty well..no stove pipes, no ftf and no ftf, i realize it was only 20 rds but at least there were no immediate issues, would have preferred nicer weather but at least i got it tested out

How close is your scope to the rear sight? If you push straight down on the front of the rear sight and pull towards the rear, it pops right out. That may give you enough room (at least it did for me !). Good luck !

I'm interested to hear more reports on these. I just got one for my son and it arrived today. Probably won't be shooting it for a while as its wrapped up for Christmas and colder than the Antarctic here.

I'll post my findings when we do get around to shooting it.
