I picked one up for a decent price NIB and I'm going to try to make a poor mans backpacker/survival gun out of it, what's the accuracy like? And also what should I try to do it to make it more of a survival style rifle(case, para cord somewhere..etc) any ideas?

I have a couple of them. One is scoped and one is bare bone. For walking in the bush hunting grouse or rabbit I like the bare bone better. It's really handy/balanced and nice fits nicely in the hand when carried by the receiver. I would not recommend any fancy gizmos on it. Maybe take the butt plate off and drill a hole in the butt stock to fit some spare ammo in there...
As for accuracy - I have tried several different types of ammo and I get best results with CCI SV and Remington subsonics. Dollar size groups at 35m is realistic.

Many, many years ago there was an article in Guns and Ammo magazine about a Browning SA that had been fitted with a short bull barrel, quite thick and heavy. The wooden forearm was removed entirely. I didn't own a SA at the time but thought that it was an intriquing idea. I've had a couple of them over the intervening years, but never butchered one up. The cheapo Norc copy might be a great basis for this conversion.

A custom case with some storage for ammo and a few accessories is all you need. About the only thing I would do if I had skills and a mill would be to cut a rimfire groove in the top of the receiver.
Browning did it for a while and while it is not ideal for target accuracy and removing the barrel it would be a good easy non intrusive option for mounting a red dot or scope.
