Hello to everyone on the forum and anyone reading my first thread.

looking at fitting a LSR Side mount and zf39 reproduction scope to my Jw25a, having a lot of trouble finding measurements and related data to both the scope and the mounts that are being reproduced. even my mauser book doesn't have really any useful info.

Ill post photos of my rifle soon, took me 7 years just to get one, I recently restored it, now fitted with cleaning rod, sling and bayonet :)
Hoping to get the scope setup and make this thing look awesome.

if anyone has had experience with this gun please post, anything will be appreciated, also if you have any info about the german side scope rails and scopes, fitting, use, measurements anything please post.

I will add more info to the topic soon, any help or replies would be appreciated, as my local gun dealers are a waste of time!

Welcome to CGN !

What you mean by : took me 7 years just to find one...?

IMO I would not install ZF39 scope and LSR mount on a 200$ rifle.
See-thru rings will do the job.

Hello ben777lemay, thanks for welcoming me to the forum :)

these guns are so rare in Australia, i had searched gun dealers for years, most of them didnt even know what i was on about they thought i was crazy, the one i bought was from a deceased estate so i was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.

im looking at a repro scope, just to keep the theme of the gun sort of genuine, i have some other scopes that i can use, i just think it will spoil the look of it :)

at the moment now im trying to source some 30mm high mount rings to suit the 11mm dovetail, brownells sell reducer shims to fit the scope in nice and snug.
the rings i have are not high enough to clear the bolt handle or rear sight :(

Now I understand !

Here is mine, with some modifications...

that looks real nice man :) mine is similar, slightly different rear sight and butt plate, I have the blues flat plate, and my sight has rear guides for the rail, not sure if it is standard or was done by its previous owner.

I have to get out and get some photos of it at its current condition, weather has been awful down here lately

Hey Warrick,

Talley makes great 11mm rings for the European-sized dovetail. I have the vertically-split steel ones on my fairly-old (1972?) Anschütz Model 64 sporter.

(The rifle was sold in Canada at that time as the CIL Model 310. The scope is a Leupold Ultralite 3-9 x 33 EFR.)

The buttstock is a repro Mauser K98 sniper buttplate. I fitted it myself.
I'm curious to see the *different* sight.

Sorry for not replying as quick, I dug up some photos of it when I was doing the resto on it :)
ill get some photos of it with all the stuff I have on it at the moment :)

restoration took me around 3 days here and there hand sanding it down and removing all the dents in the woodwork, followed up with around 4 days staining and coating and final sanding :)
I didn't re blue the metalwork as I thought it was pretty good there wasn't any major problems or significant blemishes, went back together well.

alignment of the magazine assembly with the stock is crucial! this has to be perfect or else you will get jams and bad fitting on magazines.
All my Brno mags work, both 5 and 10 shot mags as well as the original Norinco mag.

Shoots well offhand at 50 metres, cycles as good as my brno and in my opinion id rather shoot this than my zkm452, the extra weight and bulk in the width of the stock makes it nice to hold :)

Enjoy the photos I have chucked up so far, ill have more to follow shortly :)

mine had 11mm dovetail as well, as evidenced by my using the same rings on my new CZ425 Varmint.

also, for those of you who might like to do the same, I fit a real surplus mauser rear sight on mine. Fit right in like it was made for it. Both looked better, fit better, was better made and was cool just because it was a real surplus piece.
