I remember years ago guys were putting in USA made bolts because of head space problems. Is that still an issue with new made Norinco M14 clones? How are they over all compared to the ones that came in 7-8 years ago?
I have three, 2011 Norinco shortys. The headpacings were +/- 1.634, 1.637 and 1.638. Not match chambers, but all within safe spec for both NATO ammo and .308Win. ICR sees a lot of these rifles and I recall him indicating that most of the 2011's were coming in close to 1.638. This is consistent with my 2011's and pretty good in my opinion.
I had good success dropping in one of the 762mmfirearms bolt in the past. One of these days, I gotta do the same for the Fulton Armory GenII bolts if I can ever get my hands on one. Say.... Armtac (board sponsor) has LRB bolts for $ 315 at their website.
