I've done that so many time 
I have a old speaker magnet on a painter's mixing stick for "metal detecting" the carpet and nooks and crannies hehehe
Amazing the places those small parts can end up.
I lost a roll pin one day on a linoleum floor.... Gone... Apparently into that dimension where missing things go as it just vanished
Days later I'm walkin around and somethin in my shoe is stabbing me.
Found the missing roll pin LOL
