I was looking at my 2007 Norinco M14 a while ago and noticed that the front sight wasn't straight. It is rotated slightly to the right. How do I go about adjusting that. I noticed there is a knurled ring that looks like it could hold the flash hider/ sight on. If I loosen that can I adjust it? whats the best way to fix this problem?

Any help is appreciated.

your barrel index is off...the barrel needs to be adjusted. a gunsmith can help you out with that. check the main battle rifle forum stickies. this is a common problem and has been covered before.

fyi

the knurled ring on the flash hider only holds the flash hider to the end of the muzzle. you can not rotate the flash hider as it sits in 3 grooves along the end of the barrel.

chances are your flash hider is welded on so taking off your front sight/flash hider will be a pain to remove anyways (as my 2007 norc was), the stickies in the battle rifle also cover this.

yes it should be done by a gunsmith as you need a barrel vise and a special wrench and I hear the small set screw can be a real pain in the A** to get out

Hungry is holding a clinic for M-14,s this saturday Jan 15 in Barrie...it,s well worth the 35 bucks and you will learn lots and get to work on your rifle

He is holding another one in March in Ottawa as well

Look up hungry rifle clinics in the forum ..there is a couple videos from him as well in the stickies... send him a PM to sign up for one is your best bet

I will have to check out the clinics. I guess there is a lot of stuff to adjust and tinker with if the clinic is worth while. What sort of stuff do you do at the clinics?

Mine is slightly off as well. I adjusted the windage to right a few notches and all is good. If I get some assistance from Hungry at the London clinic, I may get it re-indexed.

This will be my first one that I attend as I just got my first poly 305 a few months ago (probably not my last...lol)...

Barrel indexing, flash hider removal, bedding rifle stocks, unitizing gas system by welding, ....general tweaking

Hungry passes on alot of info about ,parts, mods ,maint etc at these

Like I said check out the stickies and videos as it is all there

I looked at the post for the clinic this weekend. watched a few of the videos aswell. Looks good. I PM'd Hungry and may sign up for this weekend. Bit of a drive but sounds like it will be worth it.

Kinda sucks that I just ordered a new stock for my rifle and i wont have it for when the clinic is. That would have been really handy. No point in bedding the old stock.
