I need some technical info on my Norico M14 hopefully some has what I am looking for!

I was installing a Smith Industries scope mount (Model 2026) using the included bolt, and installing and adjusting a few times, I ended up stripping the bolt (but thankfully NOT the receiver) afterwards it dawned on me that the receiver most likely is metric and the Smith Scope Mount and bolts are Imperial.

So can any confirm the bolt size and thread pitch on the Norico receiver? My local gunsmith figures it is M5 x .08, but I purchased a few bolts in that dimension, but no go! Also the M6 x1.0 seem to large.

Thanks!

Its not metric! Its the same as a US M14 thread.

Thank RC, if thats the case it is most likely 1/4 or 5/16 dia, but what is the thread pitch? I looks like a pretty fine thread on what is remaining on the bolt. (a lot finer than the stand 1/4 or 5/16 bolts at the local hardware store) Once I know the correct dia and thread then a trip to to local .brafasco or auto parts store.

Thanks again!

The ARMS 18 mount works perfectly on my Norc receiver. Check the receiver hole threads for damage. As you found out, the screws are purposely made softer since it's cheaper to replace the screw than the receiver :D Contact Smith Industries for a replacement screw, they are not on your neighbourhood hardware store's shelf

Somewhere I have a couple spare bolts .... somewhere.

I also have that tap, if anyone ever needs to chase out the receiver threads.

Fortunately, the receiver is generally way harder than the bolt, so it is usually the bolt that strips.

Is it common for the bolt to catch on the reciever when pulled back? Seems like mine catchs the bottom of the bolt on a lip just behind the magwell?

Thanks

Laz 1,
If you can track down one I would gladly send you some $$, PM when you find them.

I am having a problem finding them in my area (Victoria, BC)

Thanks

Update

FYI, For those who are keeping track - I could not locate the required bolt from any local suppliers so I called Smith Enterprises (since they now have announced they ship to Canada), and will sell the required bolts for $10. I know thats pretty steep for a bolt (and even the lady taking my order express the same opinion) but everyone has to make money, and it is a specialized bolt (harden steel ect..), so what can you do.?! I am just happy I will finally get a replacement ...

Smith Enterprises was great to deal with, so I am more than happy to spend the $10 - problem solved!
