Has anyone done any real accuracy testing on the Norinco M14S. I'm interested in both handload results, and factory load results. With the scope mount, and with the peep sights. What size where the groups? How was the rifle for consistancy from one day to another? where there any reliability problems.
The more people that chime in with the more results the better. I'm moderately interested in one of these, but if there is only so-so accuracy, and /or the mounts are crap, the interest could fade real fast. I've already owned an SKS, and I only owned it for about a week due to the accuracy. This should give a bit of an idea as to what I'm talking about as far as accuracy is concerned; i.e. will they consistantly group 2-3 inches?

I have m14s with a mount from fabsports, a 6-24X56 scope at first i only hand tightened it and it would not hold zero, got the screwdriver out and its now sound.

I shoot priv 145g fmj, the groups i get are shown in the link above, and for a $500 rifle its not to bad.

On my stock Norinco M14S with nothing done except put into a GI fiberglass stock and a trigger job I can put Austrian Hirtenberger ball with stock peep sights all day inside 4" at 100m. Most groups around 2 to 2.5". Not one FTF, FTE ever. My most reliable and accurate semi-auto. Handloads will shrink that in half if I do my part. I quess that's why I never bothered to accurize it or scope it. It shoots as good as I need.

I go to bolt actions when it comes to scopes.

I presented an M14 clinic for a pile of police armorers and their personal Norc M14's. They were shooting from 1/2" 5 round groups to 1" groups with match ammo. That's all I can safely say..... Chu wood stocks, too! :D

Cheers,
Barney

1/2" groups at what distance? Stock barrel or custom barrel?

Hungry here: 100yds/meters... all stock...everything, but match bullets, stock barrel. I cannot tell anymore... Operational Security! ;)

I've said this before but my M14s with the much hated B-Square mount, and equally hated Leapers scope shooting Federal ammo seems to turn out 2.25" groups whenever I use it. Leaning stock against a post or from a bench, that round isn't going much farther than 1 inch away from point of aim at 100 yards.

I am planning a Tartan Tactial op rod, upgraded mount and scope and she is going into the Barrie M14 clinic on Saturday so I hope she'll get even better. I can't wait to get it out to Borden a few times this year and see if I can win any more of Ganderite's beer. :)

Last fall, it was my first match so I didn't know it was new. You don't even have to win, I came in second the second time he took first so he passed it down to me bless him! The strategy worked! :D

They didn't need a clinic very badly if they were shooting 1/2" to 1" groups already... not many out of the box rifles will do that, nork or not.

One inch with 155 grs amax ammo hanload at 2800 fps if you compare to browning or remmy semi-auto they are accurate mine is a Norinco m-305... JP

P.E.D.*!

I'm trying to budget for another revolver, which is probably going to have extra costs for having to import one from the U.S., and you guys go on and on about how accurate a cheap Chinese copy of a classic semi-auto battle rifle in a useful hunting calibre I already reload for is.

Those cheaps copys are pretty well made i have over 2000 reloads in my 305 M-14 and not a trouble nor a malfunction... But true the price is cheap.. JP.
