I know the title sounds bad. I'm figuring I picked up an M14 Full Auto stock as there is a notch on the rear right side. See pics. Btw, can you get uppers that may match this stock? Even with the notch it looks better than the Chu wood fungus factory that it came with.

What do you mean by "uppers that may match this stock"? Like this?

That's the selector cut-out. For Full auto M14's.

YOu can buy a dummy selector kit out of the US... but be prepared to pay biiig bucks for a little button!

You could fill it in with wood filler, but it will look like arse. Just leave it 'as-is' in my opinion. Or buy a USGI fiberglass and fill it in like everyone else. :)

The stock was the right price, $40, so I'll probably leave it the way it is. As to my upper qn, yes that is what I mean...in the second post. Can you buy them?

That's a handguard you should be able to buy a wooden one on the net but again US company might not ship to Canada due to their exportation law for any M14 rifle parts.

Brownells for sure. Also there are a couple for sale on EB currently. Your stock looks pale, is it walnut or birch? Brownells HG is walnut.

I'm not sure. I'm not to wood savy. I think it has been finished at one time.

The wooden handguards are made for M1A type rifles.

Export restrictions apply for M14 USGI parts.

The USGI M14 always had fibreglass handguards (wood stocks as well as fibreglass stocks), some early models excepted. These early ones were replaced after it was found they got too hot and started to burn under sustained fire. After-market wooden handguards are available though if you like them. Boys Gunstocks carry them http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/M1A-HANDGUARD-PEPPER-LAMINATE-FINISHED-p/401-414.htm However, if you want it to match your stock, you're probably going to be out of luck.

and be sure and do the popscile mod- ie read the stickies so your pin doesn't drop out when you fire it

There is an unfinished walnut HG selling on EB currently that looks as blond as your stock. A reasonable match may be feasible. Check it out.

If you want a wood hand gaurd for the top, you can probably get one through boyds in walnut. Probably won't match but you could mess around with a wood stain. Check with www.bashawsports.com, they are a boyd's importer. I think it looks pretty cool as is. the more wood you add the more weight you add.
