Norinco M305 Shorty Castle Nut Removal tips?

That's why I ask as they all seem to go 1/2....5/8 would be ideal of course if it will work. Smith makes an adapter that goes on like a normal flashider and is secured with the castle nut, but is threaded 5/8 for brakes and such....Armtac is out of them presently though.

I've one on pre-order for a while, but I'm not happy with the state of the existing thread.

If I understand correctly, the castle nut is now all messed up. So in that case it's good news, because it opens up a new option. Just get a dremel tool or die grinder and cut a slot in the castle nut. Try not to go so deep that you get into the barrel threads. After that it will surely come of easily enough.

That's exactly what I ended up doing.
