Well now that the dirty deed is done. What spare parts should I start looking for? Extractor, various pins etc? And who has the best selection in Canada eh. Thanks:D

I guess I will jump in here and offer my opinion.
I would say a set of bolt internals (Extractor, extractor spring and plunger, firing pin and ejector and spring) ,a spare op rod spring USGI if you can find it ,a hammer pin, trigger pin and a hammer spring . A combo comes in handy too and a 30.06 empty case to assemble your bolt if the need should arise .

Good thing for you is almost all of the parts mentioned are also M1 Garand parts, and I understand that you have access to M1 parts there in Canada.
The only parts that will not interchange with the M1 are the: firing pin, ejector and spring, and op rod spring and of course the combo tool .
If you just want the short list get the bolt internals and the spent case as a minimum.
Hope this helps

What Mike said.
With a properly fitted Chinese M-14, the only part that we know for sure will wear out too soon, is the original op rod spring, which is not all that sproingy to start with, and often takes a set way sooner than a US GI spring would.

You are more likely to lose parts [ taking apart the bolt to see how it goes together ] than you are to wear things out.

I would not advise that one! I made the mistake of taking the bolt apart without having any proper reassembly tools. While I was trying to reassemble it in front of my computer, (searching for tips or help or something) the extractor flew out and into my 21" LCD, leaving a big colourful spiderweb where it impacted.
