Wondering if the metal mags for the Marlin 795 or M70 will fit and work in a Norinco JW-14 semi. these plastic ones are crappy. Cabelas lists a metal for bolt actions in chrome.

I found some information about JW-14 magazines linked in this thread. Short answer seems to be that Marlin magazines work, but not without a little bit of modification.
What I would really like clarified is what the differences are between M70 and the current 795 magazines, and any other of the many .22 bolt action and autoloader magazines that all look superficially the same.
It was due to reports saying M70 mags work but 795 mags don't that I specifically bought an older magazine, yet it seems within Marlin guns, the mags ought to be interchangeable. Maybe it's just that whoever bought the M70 mag did the work to make it fit, and whoever bought the 795 gave up without trying.
