Norinco N870s opinions?

Im looking to buy my very soon to be wife a shotgun. We dont hunt, just have some fun and guard duty around the homestead. Shes very small in size, 5'2 and maybe 125 pounds. She likes the 870 remy pumps. I dont want to spend alot as she is more interested in restricteds. Marstar has a few nice Norinco 870 styles for a nice price. I want a short barrel for her. The N870-14 or N870-18.5 is what im looking at. Anyone have the good or bad about Norinco shotguns?

Thanks

Andy

I had the 14" shotgun from Norinco. It was a perfect copy in every way except the extractor. I had some issues with the Norinco extractor so I swapped it out for a milled Remington one and it worked perfectly after that. They are good little shotguns!

I've got the 14 inch model. It's at least as good as an Express but there are areas that need attention. My own copy had a poor quality ejector which required replacing with the Remington Factory part. Mine also blew off the front bead inside of 50 rounds.

I would buy another 14 inch model, but if I wanted a 18 inch model, I'd find a good used Wingmaster.

For 50$ more you can get the REAL 870. I agree it looks the same, some work but:My buddy fist got a Norinco YL12-1JZ 'M-37 Tactical' 12ga. Piece of S!@#T, The thing would jam every second round. He sent t back and got a Norinco 870: Worst! Every round would jam, out of the box, new gun, come on. Some of you could have one that works fine, but my freind was stuck with a loaded, jammed shot gun at the range, when I was shooting my Rem 870, No Jam. There no reasons why a new shotgun ( 2 back to Back) even made in China would have such a low standard.

my wife (5'4' 125 lbs.) manages the 870/14" with no problem... reduced recoil slugs and buckshot still give her a good push, but with proper technique she has learned to handle it without a problem. she loves that gun! :D

Remington doesn't export the 14" anymore (there are exceptions), and they are classed with machineguns in the US.

Dlask sells 14", 10.5" and 8.5" barrels.

If you intend to buy a Norinco 870 clone my advice would be to NOT buy one mail order unless you had full right of return. I've looked at several of them the while some were acceptable others were downright awful with problems ranging from poorly staked beads, off center beads, improperly machined extractors, 12 lb. trigger pulls, and actions that felt like they had sand in them. If I wanted a Norinco I'd go into a shop and look at all they had and select one that looked okay.

If you can live with an 18.5" barrel the Remington Express HD with a magazine extension is a better choice IMHO.
