there's been quite a bit of topics on the NP-22 but not much about the the NP-34. Is there anything wrong with them? Are they the same in quality? fit finish?

anyone has the NP-34?

Both, models have that problem I think. Use the search function and take a look around... couple of reports of cracked frames around.

Seems the Chinese have gotten the hold of making good steel but don't have the knack for Aluminium yet.

if you're already shooting a Beretta, you won't be too impressed /w the NPs.

if you were just getting into shooting and wanted a cheaper gun, i would say got for it... but if its a second/spare one... i'd probably say save your money for ammo to feed the Beretta

Some folks (we dont know how many) have experience with the rails cracking on the NP34:( . I have a NP34 which functions well and is a great shooter but I expect its the old Norinco story..Some have great success, others do not. Its pretty much hit & miss. Personally the DA trigger pull on the NP34 is pretty tough, but thats easily overcome with new Wolff 17# spring vs the stock 25#. I was recently looking to sell it off as I wasnt using it(untouched for 18mos), but after taking it out of the safe a month ago, and giving a workout, and a tweeking here and there I have decided to retain it until it fails. It may not be as fancy as the big names but it is just as functional and re the cost difference, its not worth it to change. To each his own...
Cheers

I have an NP34 and have put about 3000 rounds through it. No problems..no cracks..no fails. All I have done is changed the plastic grips to rubber Hogues. Lots of fun to shoot...from light to heavy loads.

I've seen other comments here from time to time about rail cracks...might be 2 out of how many thousands ? I don't know. I'll keep mine thanks !

I was one of the people that had a cracked frame on my NP-22 after about 2,000 rds. Both Lever and Marstar reported that they have had a few returns for this problem. Yet there are people on this board who have happily put 10,000 rds through theirs. I don’t know if the problem is unique to particular guns or that it is a systemic problem for them. I suspect that by next year you either have a lot of complaints or a lot of happy people.

The gun is a copy of the early Sig 226 with the old style springs, which will require you to modify any after market grips you get. I really enjoyed the gun and it was a joy to shoot.

I found the balance of the NP-22 superior to the NP34, but the 34 comes with almost decent grips compared to the useless grips on the NP-22. I have seen a couple of early NP-34 which were not well done and the later one seem much nicer.

Would I buy another one? I think I will wait a year to see what plays out. If you decide to get one, buy it new from someone that has a good warranty. Right now I have the NZ-85b, M93 and ordered the 1911 Commander, so I do like Norinco. But for a Sig I have my heart set on the Stainless steel one.

But for a Sig I have my heart set on the Stainless steel one.
I know what you mean it's a nice looking gun, I'm a huge fan of stainless myself, but to be honest I'm not too happy about the weight of the ST model; what is it 42oz IIRC? Alloy one (in 9mm) only weights about 28oz.

if you're already shooting a Beretta, you won't be too impressed /w the NPs.
Since Inox Berettas are being discontinued I would like to keep it as new and get another 9mm to beat up...

I have an NP-34, and the frame rail on the right side cracked.

Marstar is making good on their warranty, so I'll be getting a new one when the next shipment comes in.

Happened between 3000-3500 rounds.

I have an NP-34 but I've only fired about 300 rounds through it. Based on what I've heard about cracking, I'm mostly worried about safety. Is it just the rails cracking or is there a problem with the slide?

If the frame starts to crack you will start getting a lot of FTE's or poor ejections, plus the gun will "slam" on recoil. Wipe the frame with oil and look for a silvery colour in the oil, caused by the cracked portions wearing against each other, I knew it was a possibility so I kept a close eye on the frame rails.

There's a CFTO (Canadian Forces Technical Order) out on this occuring on real Sig pistols too.

All DND Sigs get looked at for it during their Annual Tech Inspection.

I had an NP-22 that had a mechanical issue with the hammer following the slide back into battery. Very dangerous malfunction.

This was on a brand new, un-fired pistol.

Here is my np-22, it has over 1000 rounds through it and still is going strong with no problems or ftf's. by replacing the grips you get a much better feeling gun, the only issue ive had is the "rough" double-action pull from these guns....which i never use anyway as i always fire it in single (the single action trigger pull is great on mine).

I've got the NP-34 as well, i have had no problems or malfunctions of any kind as of yet. like other have stated, it's a bit rough but it works as it is supposed to every time I pull the trigger.

I've been looking into getting an NP-22 myself for a first handgun, and I think that if I can get a year of use out of it before anything cracks I'd be happy with my purchase. Where are the grips available at the lowest price?

got my houge grips on ebay for under 20$....i doubt you will have probelms with anything cracking, few people have but i guess their may be a few lemons out there.
