Just unboxed my new NP-34 pistol and being my 1st Norc pistol but 5th Norc gun thought I would share my observations.

Really well packaged, loved the moulded plastic case, extra spring kit, and 2 mags. The frame, slide, and mags are stamped with the same serial numbers.

Sights are 3 dot seem okay, grips are plain nasty!!! Just ordered some Hogues.

Owners manual is actually pretty good for a Chinese one, but man oh man this thing was just drenched in oil. Took a good hour to get her cleaned up, guess to ensue it would never rust?????

The mags seem decent and drop freely from the frame when you press the magwell release. Don't miss the lack of a safely at all like the exposed hammer and double action if you needed a live round in the pipe.

Trigger is okay could use a polishing and tune but what would you expect for a sub 400.00 pistol Also like no where does it say made in China on the frame or slide.

Heft is decent, balance is nice, doesn't rattle when shaken.

I was surprised with the finish really decent, barrel looks not bad, and feed ramp was nicely polished guess that helps with feeding round nose and hollowpoint.

All in all seems pretty decent but I need to try her out and get some lead on some paper hopefully this week.

Can you take a pic close up of the barrel/chamber exterior where they meet up, as well as the chamber area looking down the bore? I want to see if they still use a 2 piece barrel arrangement.
Also a pic with the slide off looking down into the frame....at one point the frames were cracking often, so they changed the design a bit and beefed up the problem area in there

Will do, I know they beefed up the frame for the slide. One guy I spoke to in Vancouver has thousands of rounds thru his with no malfunctions.

I have one just like that...pretty decent gun actually! I forgot to lube it last time I went out, it was completely dry and didn't miss a beat. Older style version (no rail) I had earlier was also just as reliable and quite accurate.

Randy -- I'm glad you're pleased with your new NP-34. The DA trigger on mine is pretty heavy and rough, but the SA is not bad.

The rubbery Hogue grips are really nice on the NP-34...good choice. I just got some spare mags from Marstar...a little pricey but worth having IMO.

Thanks I want to get two more mags as well may have a trigger polish done and a reduced trigger kit depending on how she groups.

Randy

PS were they 228 or 226 mags you ordered?

Marstar has the actual Norinco mags available... http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=78931

I am thinking of a trigger job too... Clarence Weatherby in Prince George does a Sig style trigger/action job for $150. Again, a little steep but if it's the only thing wrong with the gun and you want to shoot it regularly, it might be worth it.

Well took the Norc 34 to the range today and asked a counter guy if we could do a side by side with a SIG. Have to say the finish was nicer on the SIG but not a huge difference. :) Then we tried the triggers, the double action on the Norc was very very heavy but the single action and travel was so close between them even the counter guy was impressed! :)

So they were out of 9mm and all I had with me was cheap lacquered ammo.

So I am shooting and wow the 9s were going right where I wanted them!! I did not have to drft the sights it just worked well. Man oh man these new Norcs are nice.

Then the jamming started stuck cases!!!!!!

I went to the front counter and was advised that this ammo was jamming in all the range guns and it was not my pistol. So what can I say BIG THUMBS UP!!

Waiting for my Hogue grips but will try again with some better ammo.
