Will be my first handgun. Basically just looking for a cheap plinker, was originally thinking about something in a .22 but not sure you can beat the ~350 price tag.

Pros/cons?

A review on youtube I watched said the rail is oddly shaped and is hard to find lights to fit. Are there lights that will fit?
Are Sig parts/accessories interchangeable (sights, grips, etc)

Also, I'm seeing 9mm for ~250 for 1000pcs, is that about average?

Thanks

sights...nope (dovetail on NP22 too large...can be made to work though), grips (yes, but gripscrews are different), one of the springs under the grip is different (I forget what it's called at the moment). I believe the hammer spring is the old style. Otherwise, everything else fits.

if you are looking for a firearm, preferably, .22cal, I suggest GSG sport guns...1911, 1911 black and the 1911 tactical or Chiappa...which pretty much is the same..all from badger arms supply...with same price tags.....if you want to go cheap for the ammo portion (ie plinkin)

Just get a Sig P226 Classic .22lr and get a caliber x-change kit when your ready. It's a smart buy.

What are they going for?

Just checking out the Sig Mosquito 22lr, found it for $475

Considering the crazy price difference between a brick of 500rds of 22 and a brick of 500rds of 9mm, I think it's definitely worth paying more for the 22 chambered gun.

Prophet River has the American classic. 1911 in 22cal for $300 taxes included.
Shoot it alot and when you learn trigger/grip control then buy a centerfire handgun in 9mm.

my tlr-1 light fits on my np-22's weird rail...

i swapped out the springs for wolff p226 springs and it improved trigger pull ALOT...not anywhere near a real sig but much better than stock.

Don't get a Sig Mosquito. I was referring to the Sig P226 in .22lr. It is the exact same lower you get with their other caliber P226's. So all you have to do to change calibers is buy the x-change kit. I bought mine for $629 before tax from badgerarmssupply. SFRC sells them for $619 right now but are currently out of stock. Questar sells the x-change kits for $372 but they also have none in stock at the moment. Just check around.
