Good day CGN,

Does anyone know what the general parts compatibility is between the Norinco NP762 and its P226 clone?

My firing pin broke and my gunsmith tried an ordinary p226 firing pin but the latter was too short. He managed to get a replacement from North Sylva. So it appears the firing pins are not compatible.

Next, the extractor broke. Am skeptical a 9mm extractor would work in this pistol.

If you could get parts for these pistols, they'd be great.

Thanks for your help.

Case head is pretty much identical. X25 Borchardt-7.63 mauser-7.65 Luger-9mm Luger-x25 Tokarev. Good chance it may work but I can't say for certain.

I tried a set of tru glo #8 sig sights and the rear dovetail on the slide was too large and the sight just slid right through.

Most of the info for the NP 22/34 and parts compatibility is compiled in this thread. Happy reading.

Thanks. I didn't find much about the NP762 in those threads.
I did measure the breech block on the NP762 and concluded that it must be the narrow version used on the 9mm P226, rather than the wider one used for .40 S&W and .357 SIG.
So converting to .40 or .357 SIG will require a slide swap in addition to the barrel.

There are 3 different firing pins for SIG DE & US models for the P220,226,228,229,239.

The reason the firing pin is longer is that the 7.62x25 cartridge is so long.
The breech block and slide on the NP762 are therefore longer than the ones on the 9mm and .40 P226 (and respective Norinco clones).
My firing pin also broke yesterday so hopefully I can get a couple from North Sylva. This is a common failure and I'm told they send out replacements without much trouble.
