Hey...Just looking for your inputs on the Norinco NZ75/85. Is it worth buying or should I just dish out the $$$ and get the CZ 75/85? What are your thoughts and experiences......G

I'll put it this way. If it were me, I would save the extra cash and get the CZ.

There are TONS of threads on whether or not to get a norc vs the real deal, some people love em some hate em... but like I said, if it were me, i'd save because I know I'd be happier in the end.

I have the NZ85 have had it for a short while, it shoots ok goes bang every time as it were, I havent had it long enough to try different ammo to see if I can get better accuracy out of it. (I have shot it a total of twice about 300 rounds) off the bench it did a 4" group of 10 at 25 yards, but I am by no means a precision shooter.

The recoil spring it stiffer than any of my other pistols, but I believe it can be changed for a lighter one for $20 plus GST and shipping
As far as finish goes its not bad a couple of rough spots inside but everything works smooth.

The trigger is HEAVY and rough in Double Action and the reach is long, I have been told that if I put on Hogue grips it is better, that'll be about $40 +shipping +tax
In single action its much better, (lighter and crisper) and the length of pull is half of what it is in DA;
I know that you can get a trigger job or change the hammer spring I am not sure on the cost.

The sights need improvement, I blasted the paint out of them with the steamer when I was removing the Oil/Cosmoline, and promptly repainted them in green using a sight pen. The alternate is CZ sights that would run you 40-100$ plus shipping

It only came with one Magazine even though the manuals etc state they come with a spare, Mags are between 40 and 60 each plus shipping and taxes and are tough to find.

Even if you did all these changes, its still a Norinco, a cheap gun that goes bang! In my opinion the upgrades wont add value, so if you resell...

The CZ you would get a lighter, smoother trigger, better sights and two Magazines and I would guess better accuracy. Now I dont have a CZ75/85 and I have only shot a CZ once, so this is partially an assumption based on what I have read and on that one experience.

I am a plinker, I havent tried IPSC/IDPA type shooting, if I did I may be more inclined to go the CZ route; for now, shooting more spray & pray than Precision shots, I am fine with the Norinco's, now if only I could get the Registration Certificate for the 1911 I bought...

If you get the Norinco you may be spending more on it for upgrades than the difference in price getting the CZ in the first place.

Not sure where you are but if you are down my way pm me, I shoot at Silverdale if you want to try it out.

Hope this helps

Cheers
