I bought one of these a while back, and never had a chance to fire it for about a month after I bought it. I took it apart when I got home, and dug the simplicity of the gun, having never handled a CZ. I own a norinco 1911 .45 that is a good gun, so I figured I would save some money and buy the NZ-85B.

Anyway, I took it to the range, and couldn't get more than 4 rounds off before the mag would fall out of the grip? I played with the gun for a bit, along with another guy who was there. It seemed the mag rattled in the handle of the gun quite a bit, like it was loose. There was score marks along the magazine where the piece that holds the magazine in the gun slid along the mag as it fell out....I don't know the name of this piece but I'm sure some of you more knowledgeable people do. The one controlled by the button that releases the magazine....I tried taking it back to the dealer, and they informed me that due to norinco's "ironclad" warranty, they couldn't do anything for me, I had to ship it back to marstar, and wait maybe a couple of months until it was fixed (shopkeeper's experience with turnaround times on norinco warranty work).

I was pissed, and returned the gun to the dealer, who graciously took it back. I am maybe looking to by a Smith & Wesson MP 9MM, as I shot that gun, and really liked it, it fit me well and I was shooting bullseyes at 12 yards with it, which for me, as a new shooter, is amazing. It also seemed way more well put together than the NZ-85B, even though it is plastic and I am not sure I like plastic guns better than steel.

So I guess the moral of this story, is you get what you pay for, and I am a guy who always looks for a deal. 379$ for a faulty gun isn't a deal, if you can't get it serviced without waiting forever.

Now, I'm not going to pay less than 700$ for my next pistol!

I had a couple problems with my NP-40. Marstar took care of them quickly. My $350 piece of Chinese crap shoots like a charm and is scary accurate. I will definately buy another Norc from Marstar.

yes, tried another magazine. i don't think all norincos are crap, just this one. maybe i'm being a bit judgemental on this, but i'm not a gun snob by any means. I prefer function to fashion any day...it's just that this gun didn't function right out of the box, and the dealer couldn't help me due to the "ironclad guarantee" if I bore you, don't post then!

You can buy a new CZ75B Tutone for less than that.

Sounds like there was a lot of effort put forth to actually find out what was wronf with it. My 1911 had the same problem and all it was a slight bend in the catch release on the clip. Took a total of about 12 sec. to fix. Besides, as previuosly mentioned, why buy from athird party instead of the source? IE. Marstar who does honour they're "Iron Clad" gaurentee.

Just sounds like the magazine catch slot was not correct. You may notice that the catch slot on many Norinco factory mags has been slightly enlarged. It was probably as simple as that... a few seconds with a grinder to increase the slot size, (Likely needed to be a bit taller like my NP-22 with 'real' SIG mags). Sounds like a simple mag fix was in order. Sorry that you returned it before you asked on the board, would have likely been a good gun for you.

I don't want to comment on one guy's experience, but everytime I see a Norc pistol that I haven't seen before it makes me wonder how the hell they manage to make a presentable (no, not perfect) serviceable (and sometimes more) pistol for the cost of the packaging that comes with some other guns. My experience with Norcs has been pretty good overall and when you factor in mark ups and import costs it's amazing. Mind you for the cost difference between a CZ and a Norc I'd buy the real thing, they cost less than 2x as much, which makes the real CZ almost a better buy.

The CZ are fairly close and a more difficult choice, but their 1911 and Sig copies are quite different in price.

The best price I have seen on a CZ-75 is $720.
The Norc-off is $349, less than half price.

My Tanfoglio 1911 is $750.
The Norc-off is $349. I bought the Tanfoglio for CCW in the U.S. as we can't bring a Norc into the U.S.; otherwise, I would have bought the Norc.

Some factors...Exchange rate North American currency vs Chinese currency, not having to pay for union wages, not having to be bent over a gun counter for a fancy logo, less middle men involved, etc etc. :D
