Hi guys and gals
I picked up a JW25 (Mauser clone) at the Chilliwack gun show a few weeks ago. Got it for $130 because of a cracked stcck. In short, it was great. Fixed the crack in a few minutes and love it. So, I decided to get another for a buddy at the low price. What a difference in quality on the same rifle. The bolt would not come out. After stripping it and removing the trigger mech, I found the sear was too big and was jammed into the receiver. I had to take down about 30 thou off the back of the sear to make it all good. This left the factory that way. Another issue, although small, was that the rear wood screw for the trigger guard was never installed.
So, Norinco is hit and miss. I have heard this before and now i have seen it.
The second JW25 is fine now that I fixed it.

Hello
Yes the JW25 (Mauser clone) is very Nice , Got mine from Canada ammo , it was perfect .

That said Norinco's interior finishing is not to American or European quality , a lot of tool marks but I have not seen one yet that did not function well right out of the box ( after a good cleaning ) .

Having owned in excess of 15 Norinco's from the M 305 and down to the 22's , I have never seen an issue like you described in the second rifle but there have been other that have had some real issues ,, I guess the price refects
the end result .

That said I bought 2 Ruger 10-22 take down rifles with the Ruger cases ,,,, well on close inspection the sights were so far off on BOTH it was unbelievable , their Ruger's ! Oh well returned both took my money and bought something else . I did read that I was not the only one who got part of a bad batch of badly installed sights on these take down models ..

As with all things , some times we are lucky and some times no so lucky ,,buyer beware .

Cheers . here are a few Norinco's I have ...........

I like the way you scoped your Norinco. I removed the rear sight and used low rings. I might change that.
They are such neat little guns and I got both for so cheap, what the heck.

My biggest complaint about Norinco is the wood they use for the stocks....soft wood better suited for 2x4's.Even a cheap hardwood badly finished would be infinitely better ( you can easily slim it down, sand and refinish)Other than the JW20 which isn't bad for a wood stock, the composite stocks are a better choice and more suitable for truck guns anyway.I'm not too concerned about the lack of fine finishing on the metalwork-as long as it works. These are working guns, not collectors ,and as long as they function and shoot straight that's fine by me...besides a little tinkering and polishing is time well spent and an enjoyable pastime.Norinco is well known for what they produce ,functional firearms ,but you just can't expect a $200 rifle to look like a $600 one..With that in mind,I'm very satisfied with my five models...they are reliable and shoot acurately

Norinco quality control on their commercial hunting rifle or sporting rifle clones are notoriously hit and miss. Not slamming them as I own Norinco guns and the ones I keep are amazing. But it's true.
That's why I stick to their M14's and 1911's.
Good to go all around if you stick to the military rifle clones. Probably because at one time they anticipated they would have to actually put them into service if things went bad maybe.
Seems Norc quality control for products solely intended for "stupid fat capitalist North Americans" was not as high a priority and it shows!

Always wondered how the 1894 clones held up.
Any feedback on them Sir?

So far I have just cycled it ( a lot ) and it I can report no FTF , No FTE , smooth and positive lock up .

Looking forward to some range time ,, will report back then .

I like it very much , it is short , good weight and balance , fast handling and has very nice sights .

I have to add, I took both JW25s to the range last night and they are extremely accurate. One of them did a 3.3" group with irons at 100 meters. And I am not that good.

This is like complaining that lemons are yellow.

I'm not a snob about Norincos but I do have to agree with Kelly on this. I've had a few Norincos come and go and still have two of them. I consider them as gun kits that come loosely assembled for packing convenience. The Forest Gump quote "life is like a box o' chocolates" very much applies to any Norinco.

how dare this $100 gun not be up to my high standards! hmmpf!!

Interesting response to my post. You should re-read my original post. I was simply commenting on the hit and miss quality of their qc. Did I ever state that I had expected a higher standard? No. I much enjoyed the reply "Like is like a box of chocolates" when it comes to Norinco
