Im thinking about a cheap norinco shotgun for a "truck/camp" gun (to shoot buckshot, and slugs through). Has anyone owned one of these shotguns? How do they preform?
Go for the Remington 870 Express or an older Wingmaster.
If you are going to get a Norinco make sure it is the HP-9 (14" Barrel). The Norinco HP-9 will accept all 870 barrels but because of the length of the mag tube on the other Norinco models they will not accept all 870 barrels.
I've shot and handled a handful of them, quality seems to be superior than the 870 express, mind you I don't own either but have a couple of old, beaten up wingmasters.
For a truck gun, you'll probably want short and the HP9-1 suited the bill. However, there are plenty of usable Wingmasters as suggested above that work as well.
The Express isn't bad, but does have a plastic trigger guard and rougher finish than Wingmasters do. The Express would be about the same money as a HP9-1.
Apart from Remington and Norinco 870 copies, you might consider Mossberg or their lower priced brand Maverick. Cheaper than gas, reliable and also light(alu receiver).
I have an HP9-1, which was originally bought for my bro and out of curiousity, he didn't want it, and I never regretted having it for myself
They have it listed as the N870-14. It's the HP9-1. Plus their website is a tad confusing... what happened to the drop down menu?
Get the HP9-1, AWESOME little shotgun. A cheap and effective way to get a 14" barreled shotgun. I was happy with mine, sold it to buy a strider hatchet. I'd get another one in a heart beat.
If you just want a 18"+ shotgun, just get a REM from "where ever", they are about the same price.
