Hi, I have a chinese sks and wondering how to tell if the barrel it is pinned or threaded ? It's from factory 306 and in the 16 million range, my other chinese sks is in the 15 million range but has a buldge in the barrel going into the reciever so I am thinking maybe one is pinned and the other is threaded? If so which one should I use and which one should I just have as a safe queen for now ? Cheers

From left: threaded long lug, threaded short lug , pinned barrel.

there is no difference with your SKS , both were used by the chinese forces.

Just what I was looking for, thanks !

Mine look like the two rifles on the right thanks for the picture. Is there much difference between a pinned and threaded barrel in longevity ?

cheers

Not really, with the exception of some that Lever brought in about 2 years ago where threaded barrle stubs were bored out and pinned barrels were pinned into them to be fit to threaded receivers. Many of those proved dangerous and the barrels were not firmly fixed.

As far as I know, none of thsoe were military marked and most, if not all, should have been weeded out by now.
