Dunno if this is the right thread. But what do you guys think of this? Cheaper alternative to the HS.50? Kinda dreaming here, but thats allowed.

I always wondered about this too, not that I could afford it even it was relatively cheap :D

???Precision Norinco???

I always talk of rifles I would like to take to buck camp in order to get a crazy look from the others... this could do it :) Those pesky whitetail are tough.. Usually only 20-70 yards away.. but tough. haha.

I think personally if I was gonna build up a badass long range rifle I would go with the Savage 110 BA in 338 Lapua. That round has the new farthest killshot record since Rob Furlongs was beaten... @ 2,475 m (2,707 yd) and was achieved by CoH Craig Harrison, a sniper from the Household Cavalry of the British Army. It was accomplished in an engagement in November 2009 in which two stationary Taliban machine gunners were killed south of Musa Qala in Helmand Province in Afghanistan with two consecutive shots by CoH Harrison using an Accuracy International L115A3 Long Range Rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum.

Just when I was beginning to think that this Precision Rifle sub-forum was getting too boring a doozy topic like this pops up and it's all fun again. Thanks for the laugh boys......:D. The "salvage" part was particularly funny......

this was the same mentality with japanese cars years ago.......but now they are world class, even shaking the american muscle car from its pedistal

I wonder who is building all those Olympic rimfire Rifles for the Chinese team?????

They sure bought up a bunch of Eley.

If the Chinese ever decided F class was a favorable market, look out. They will shoot and they will be dirt cheap.

I guess some have never played with the other Norinco products including the M305, 1911 and new M4. Try these and you know why there is an importation embargo Stateside.

As for the Savage knocks, hey some get it, some don't. No worries, its all good. The target doesn't seem to care one way or the other.

Besides some enjoy spending lots of time, energy and money to fix it up before it will go fast.

Others, just like turning on the ignition :)

Don't buy ONE!

Buy TWO of them... LOL I'm just yanking yer chains. I've just bought my 6th Norc 1911 in .45 ACP because they are super to tweak and then my friends offer me $ that I cannot refuse.

Anyways... let's see what turns up before we start judging. All I know is that their M4 carbine sure shoots well for Service Rifle and Service CQB matches in the ORA. :D

Cheers all!

To me, the biggest area of concern would be the travel the bolt needs to be raised before it can cycle.

Someone spent too much time with a Moisin Nagant.

They are very quick learners and as one design style fails, several more will be tested to take its place.

Their small arms programs looks like evolution on steriods with many designs tendered per program and a whole lot more we will likely never know about for decades to come.

What has the west come up with lately?

If Norinco produced a reasonably accurate, heavy barrelled bolt action rifle in 7.62x54R, I'd be on it like a fat kid on a Smartie. Oh, and provide us with "match" quality ammo as well, please!

I'll take (2) rifles and 5,000 rds. of ammunition - right now.

I say #### the rifle, but if we can start getting decent access to surplus Russian/Chinese .50 cal ammo at Commie Surplus prices, I would have ATRS build me a custom rifle for it in an instant. :D

That's akin to running 87 octane pump gas through a top fuel dragster. Why pay many thousands of $$$ on a custom rifle to get substandard accuracy from junk ammo? What you're saying makes no sense at all. I could understand if there was nothing available other than the surplus, however, there are other options - namely reloading.
