That's akin to running 87 octane pump gas through a top fuel dragster. Why pay many thousands of $$$ on a custom rifle to get substandard accuracy from junk ammo? What you're saying makes no sense at all. I could understand if there was nothing available other than the surplus, however, there are other options - namely reloading.

They move used custom .50s on their site all the time under 5K. I don't have the space to reload, nor the time or range facilities to get seriously into long range shooting, but I would certainly like to dabble in it if it was affordable.

Even reloading .50 cal is ridiculously expensive.

And after years in the reserves shooting the M2 (back in my youth), I found milsurp ammo was plenty accurate for whatever I wanted to destroy.
