Howdy,

I am wondering if anyone has put on their T81 railed forend. I am hoping you can post some pictures of the complete job..I tried last night a few different ways and I can not get it set properly. No instructions...no Youtube videos yet that I can find.

Cheers, and happy new year!

thanks, but I can not seem to search and find this thread? I have always had problems with CGN search functions, they are horribad

OK I'll give it a go. 4 small set screws hold the upper and lower together, loosen the screws and slide the uppers apart. The tabs on the upper will align with the slots in the lower and they will separate.

Undo the 4 Allen head screws in the side of the lower that hold the barrel clamp, remove clamp from lower guard, remove the 1 cap screw from the barrel clamp and it will hinge open.

Install the clamp around the barrel with the upright tabs forward (?looks to me anyway) install capscrew and snug it a little, slide lower on and install loosely 4 Allen head bolts in side of lower into the barrel clamp and install the large screw that came out of the wood lower hand guard rear bottom

Drop upper guard into slots on the lower and slide rearward, spring loaded pin should be towards the front and now in the gas adjuster detents, install the 4 setscrews upwards through the bottom handguard and snug them up.

Check everything looks/aligns good and you can tighten everything, the capscrew securing the barrel clamp can be accessed through the rail so it can be tightened with everything installed.

Seems the barrel clamp will work either way (after playing with it) but with the tabs to the front it looks like it would prevent the gas adjustment from over rotating.

I did the best I can with pics so I hope they are good enough.

Best I could find

I also want to see how ppl do with optics on this rail. Curious if it holds zero well, what it adds to a cleaning routine, etc.

If it wasn't 200 F'n dollars I'd give one a try, I was hoping for something like the made in China AR carbine quad rails on eBay for $40 not a $200 made in China quad. I really only want the top rail, the rest is just cheese grater for your hands. Ya lights and lasers on a T-81... AWESOMESAUCE!!!
If I ever find one on the cheap the first thing I would do is have the side and bottom rails milled off and then spray it with rubber paint or something to make it less uncomfortable on cold days. Nothing like an aluminum heat sink to suck all the heat out of your hands.

honestly I have built numerous ar's pistols, hand guard installs, and I can not get this to fit or figure out what is going on. i have tried all 4 directions just in case. It is the MOST frustrating part of the t81 purchase for me. why anyone would send brand new accessories without installation instructions is mind blowing. Thank you all for trying to help me.

one other stupid question....if you install with the bottom screw where it came out of the wood , doesn't this make the t## backwards? ? i ask this at risk of looking like a complete ass.

Does your rifle have any bend to it? The lower rail can only go one one way as you use the large screw to secure it. The upper rail can fit either way but will only work properly one way, the little nib inside near the end of the rail engages the gas adjuster (towards rifle front) and keeps it secure from rotating. The only part that seems to go on either way without impacting rifle operation is the barrel clamp. Try loosely assembling everything first then if it fits/looks right you can tighten it up, all screws are accessible with the rail fully installed.

Can someone post a pic with the rail attached?

Well it looks functional enough. Have you had to field stripped the rifle since installing the rail? Does it make that harder? Does it hold zero? How are the group's with optics?

To be honest, I wish it was m-lock or similar on the sides and bottom. It seems set up to almost need a VFG to hold the rifle comfortably.
