Norinco Tokarev- reliable inexpensive plinker or just junk?

I've enjoyed mine so far. Nice and simple to field strip, the big bang factor with 7.62 is fun as well. Marstar has a good deal that includes the preferred Tok (the one without the add-on safety) a 9mm barrel and a bunch 'o ammo:

Norinco Type 54 with Ammo and 9x19mm Barrel

New Norinco Type 54 with 'in Canada' warranty, two magazines, and an additional chromed barrel in 9x19mm parabellum - all you need to fire either 9mm or 7.62x25mm ammunition out of the same handgun!

Part # Description Cond. Cost
SPEC001 Special with 1,140rds of Czech 7.62x25mm New* $349.00

SPEC002 Special with 2,280rds of Czech 7.62x25mm New* $420.00

* (ammo is military surplus - special offer valid only while quantities last).

i've got the one with the safety and never had a problem aside from a few issues with reloads- 9mm- haven't been inclined to use the 7.62 so far

Reliable inexpensive plinker.

I have a 9mm barrel in mine I use at the indoor range. Feeds round nose mostly (98-99/100) fine. Does not feed semi-wadcutter properly at all.

- try changing your seating depth - that's what i did- i'm using 130 grain semis over 5 grains of 231- i found the 124 roundnose would sometimes jam the slide halfway back

i have a 7.62x25 and it is very reliable. It always went bang, even in -40C.

The only issue I have is the grip. That is purely personal preference though.

Excellent buy!

I found that fitting a Hogue small pistol handall (got it from a guy on EBay) makes the Nork Tok feel a lot nicer in the hand. Those damn plastic grips kept coming off and I got fed up trying to get them back on. So some duct tape (yes, I know it's white trashy to put that on a gun) stood me in good stead until the Hogue arrived.
