They will be available in both restricted and non, therefore it's class is non restricted and restricted only by barrel length, the gun model itself isn't a factor. First paragraph of the Calibre magazine article.

You must not understand how things work. A longer barrel version wouldn't need to be submitted for classification. Only verified as such, which takes seconds. The FRT as it stands is all that is needed to bring the Non-Restricted versions to market. Those can start coming in right along side the restricted versions.

Non-restricted and restricted with share the same parent FRT, just have a different child frt reference number for the variation in barrel lengths.

Yup, and all it will take for a NR entry under that same FRT is a phone call and verification. A couple of minutes over the phone. The NR can start coming now. Once they are here, the FRT will be updated.

If the type 81 is an sks that takes ak mags then count me in. My SKS is boringly reliable add AK mags to that and you have a winner IMO
 
It has a different bolt, resembles an AK bolt. Gas system and bolt carrier look like an sks. I'm going to start selling my body now so I can afford a couple when they hit Canada. Anybody know any fat chicks who want to get laid for 1000 bucks?

You mean Mike from Canmore - he has long arms and big fingers as I understand it. Seriously though, too early to ask prices on the NR version? Scuttlebutt not needed.
