Does anyone use the sling included with the Norinco M-14 as a shooting sling? I've tried it but the keeper seems to slip more often than not. Am I doing something wrong or is it just a cheap imitation?

If it's no good, where can I get a good web sling?

My guess is you are setting it up wrong or it has been threaded onto the rifle wrong. If it is installed correctly the tension holds the keeper in place. My rifle was wrong from the getgo and it used to annoy the heck out of me. Fixed it and it works great. Now if the Norinco sling is anything like the Kerr sling that the US military used on many of their rifles here are the instructions:

M1917 Kerr Sling Book

i've got both the norc m14 and usgi m14 slings. I've had the same issue, it seems that the norc slings are a slight bit thinner material and the slider/tensioner doesnt grip it as tight as on the usgi slings so it'll slip under load. So skip the norc sling and get either a c7 sling, target leather sling or usgi sling.

Well since they are completely different and since there appears to be an issue with the Norinco sling, I strongly recommend the M1917 Kerr sling. Readily available and the loop that tightens around your upper arm locks the firearm in place rock solid.

it's a cheap copy of the gi sling. not bad not good. the gi sling is not good not bad. buy a good kerr sling not a cheap one, doesn't have to be top nm sling maybe some were in the middle. or if you want a gi look get a canadian fn sling. not good but alot better. but like all things it is only as good as the user. i'm more then positive gi's have used the gi sling for years and had no problems.
