The suspense was killing me. After bedding the two Norinco bolt rifles I wanted to see if the groups were smaller than 4 minutes. The range behind the house has only been used for 50 yard small-bore training, so the grass and cattails were so tall they completely blocked the 200 yard target frame and only the top foot of the 100 yard frame is visible from the firing point. So I shot at 100 yards. This is what the indoor range looks like. A smallbore shooter was just finishing his training session when i arrived.

I planned to do a better job, but the generator was not at the firing point building, so I could not turn the air conditioning on. Not only is A/C important for comfort, but the fans stop the barrel mirage from destroying the sight picture. The indoor firing point is required if we are to be able to shoot year round. It is heated for the winter and the A/C also solves the mosquito problem.

I was very uncomfortable, so did not bother changing the parallax from the 300 yard setting.

The good news is that two groups I fired looked respectable. The 55 gr FMJ is a cheap military type bullet and it shot ok. This ammo was made on my Dillon for shooting CQB. It was made as a cheap 25 yard round that would go BANG and put a hole in the target. CQB is not demanding of ammo.... The flyer in the group was called a bad shot.

The 53gr Speer HP group is quite acceptable for this rifle. This was made on my Dillon by reducing the powder charge 1 grain and loading the 53gr HP bullet. I also made 23.5 and 24.0 gr versions and will test them at a later date.

I assume with weighed charges and some experimenting with OAL and powder charge, I can get the groups to 1 minute. Perfectly good for a $240 rifle.
