Norma 8mm reload data?

Hi guys,

I picked up some 159 gr Norma bullets in 8mm Mauser at a gun show recently. I have been looking online for reload data for them but to no avail. Anyone have any load data for them? I have using IMR4064 specifically. Thanks a bunch!! :dancingbanana:
 
Found one reference for that bullet in an old Norma booklet I have in my collection. It listed 51.0 grains of IMR 4064 as a max load. I would back off 4 grains and work up carefully, watching for any signs of excess pressure. It does not appear to be a hot loading to me, but it would be in deference to an older mauser action, I suppose. Regards, Eagleye.

I thought I had some info that would be of help, but I don't have anything in reguards to using IMR 4064 with the Norma 159gr. The only info I have, using the Norma 159gr SPRN is in an old copy of The NORMA Gunbug's Guide & Ballistic Tables. However, the problem being is the only powders listed are Norma, 200, 201 & 203. If that's of any help, send me a PM.
 
Wow those bullets have been stashed away for awhile, Norma doesn't even list them anymore. I ran your info through QuickLoad software, using the Norma 165 gr .323 bullet. 54 gr gives just about a full case and is just below max pressure (predicted only!). By the appliction of common sense, you should be safe with a starting load of 50gr 4064. I would not go over 54, but at that point, your velocity is predicted to be up over the 2800 fps mark.

Software is great for getting sensible starting loads, but does not remove the obvious need to exercise common sense and caution!

Legal disclaimer: If you use these loads the rifle will explode, global warming will accelarate and the Lieberals will be re-elected! You won't care, cause you will be dead.
 
Thanks so much guys, I will start around 46gr and work up from there. I looked everywhere online for them and realized that it must be a discontinued bullet when I didn't see it on their website. Cheers!!
