hi guys, how do you like Norma brass.....

I just got an X amount of once fired .308 cases and...and have 2 questions:

1. the length of a case is from 1.990 to 2.009 (it`s once fired commercial brass, brass was not prepped before reloading)... is it OK??????

2. neck wall thickness is 0.012 - isn`t it too thin? to have a 0.002 tension I will need a 0.330 bushing - is it a common size? from the Redding`s bushing range chart for .308Win the bushing range is 0.335-0.343. From these numbers, wall thickness has to be minimum of 0.015..... any thoughts?

regards
K

Regardless of what Reddings chart shows for .308 it is obvious that you will need to order the size dictated by your loaded round.

.012 is not "too thin", Win brass runs around the .013 mark.

I have not used Norma brass but it is supposed to be good stuff although a bit softer than Lapua.

If your shortest brass is 1.990 I would trim them all to that length for uniformity. SAAMI is 2.015.

at SAAMI 2.015 they suggest to trim 0.005-0.010 from max to 2.005.... knowing this isn`t 1.990 too short or if I`m not planning crimping - this is not a problem at all?

I trim my 6BR to 1.550 while specs are 1.5598

Trim for uniformity for now, trim again when they stretch out to 2.015.

The only thing it will affect is the amount of neck holding the bullet.
