My .308 shoots regular Norma Match 168gr. into bugholes...
To my chagrin, when I went to replace my cache, I find out that the only Norma Match in 168gr. available is moly coated.
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether there will be an issue switching to this round?
I have a couple of boxes of the moly coated rounds, and will give them a try this weekend......

Clean the barrel really good before switching between uncoated and coated bullets and vice versa. Once you start shooting moly coated bullets the groups might start off larger than normal until the bore is fully coated. This could be 3-4 rounds or it could be 10-20 rounds. Once the barrel is conditioned with moly, accuracy will be back to normal.

And you will likely need to add more powder to reach the same tuning.

Moly after all is a lubricant.

I used it for years, then stopped but am thinking seriously about it again. With many F class matches going north of 200rds and really no chance to clean then foul during the match, keeping a bore in condition can get risky.

Moly can delay the time you need to clean so this can be one less thing to worry about.

I have shot the Norma Diamond line moly'd 168 they are excellent, easily better then most factory match loads. BUT unless you have access to allot of this stuff don't bother. if you only have a couple boxes like maynard indicated it could take 5-25 rounds to get your accuracy back, that could be over half of your supply, not worth the trouble if you are switching back to naked.

I shoot moly'd bullet and i find there are far more benefits then nakeds but i am in the minority. check around someone has to have match rounds in 168 or 155's or 175.

Jerry,

Sounds like you need to try Dyna-Bore Coat. It does exactly what you're trying to accomplish, without the mess and aggravation of constantly screwing with moly.
