I have run across some loading data using Norma MRP, but of course it's no longer widely available. I have heard that RL 25 is very similar in burning rate, and can be substituted, can anyone shed any light?

The load listed is from Handloader Magazine Oct-Nov 2004 issue, on the 7 x 57 Mauser. The load Is 51.0 gr to a max of 55.0 gr of MRP and a Speer 145 gr SPBT. The velocity listed for the maximum load in a 20in bbl is 2785 fps. Alliant doesn't list RL 25 in its load data for the 7 x 57. Just wondering if there is anyway to acheive this velocity with a more widely available powder like RL 25. I have checked through the Nosler, Speer, and Lee Loading manuals, and none of them have the handy chart listing powders in relation to their burn rates anymore. My old Hornady manual doesn't have RL 25 in it. I was just wondering if anyone knew how close the burn rate is between RL 25 and MRP.

Slower

dragoon7214, you can get that velocity with the 145 Speer quite easily using IMR 4350.

RE25 is way too slow for that bullet in the 7X57. it would be better for the 175 gr bullets.
