Hello all,
I am a newbie to shotgunning, but wanted to know if it is normal to have wear on the magazine tube from the forearm racking, in terms of paint. I have fired less then 200 shells in my shotgun and noticed the paint rubbing off/coming off on the magazine tube with long striation marks from the travel of the forearm. I looked at the gallery section but could not see any wear like i see on my shotgun on other ppls pictures. Anyhow maybe something or maybe nothing ... just wanted to ask if this was normal.

Ya sorry forgot to add it's a Mossberg 590A1 shotgun...

You'd have to provide photos of the wear in question, to compare it to what others would consider "Normal" wear.

I can't help out in this case, but I know that, generally, some thin wear, sometimes right through to the bare metal, is normal. You shouldn't be making gouges, though.

Thanks PaveHammer for the great advice of maybe takin pics of it, the wear is basically to almost the bare metal in some parts , there are some parts where grey parkerized paint in basically alomst gone and you can see the silver base color . There is no real gouging but suprised to me a lot of paint wear for such little shooting done.... i know that if i take it out a few more times it will eventually take all the grey off . Here are 4 pics from different angles of the gun . Tell me what you guys think. Is this normal ?
The front mag. tube with the forearm racked back :

You should paint it with Arma-Coat, you will need more than 500 round to do that... Mine is near 800rnd now and even not half of that, also, a LOT painted for 3 duck hunt and no return yet...
